When you are launching your career, finding ways to test out different industries or get your foot in the door can be challenging. UC Davis is partnering with Parker Dewey to provide Aggies with access to project-based “micro-internships,” as a way to build valuable skills and experience.
What is a “micro-internship”?
Micro-internships are short-term, paid, project-based assignments that are similar to those given to new hires or interns. Participating in micro-internships helps you explore different career paths while building your portfolio, expanding your network, and developing your skills as you seek the right full-time role.
Micro-internships are used by employers ranging from Fortune 100 companies to emerging start-ups both in California and across the country. Micro-internships are facilitated via the Parker Dewey platform, which connects students/alumni with organizations in need of support.

How does it work?
Participating in a micro-internship is easy:
- Create a free Parker Dewey account (less than 5 minutes).
- Browse and apply to projects of interest.
- If selected, complete the project.
Micro-internships are always paid at a fair per-project rate, and pay rate is posted up front so there are no surprises.

Considerations
- Eligibility Criteria
- Domestic (U.S.) students and alumni: Must be at least 18 years old.
International students: Need to qualify and be approved for off-campus employment. Visit Services for International Students and Scholars (SISS) to learn more.

Parker Dewey is the employer of record for all micro-internships. If someone other than Parker Dewey asks you for details like your social security number, ITIN, address, etc, do not share them, and submit a Parker Dewey support ticket immediately.
