José Roa is a Career Advisor at the UC Davis Career Center, where he advises undergraduate students and recent alumni in Health and Biological Sciences, Engineering, and Physical Sciences career fields. José earned his Master of Science in Counseling with a specialization in Career Counseling and an emphasis in College from San Francisco State University. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership (EdD), where his work focuses on equity, student success, and career readiness, particularly for student veterans navigating higher education transitions.
He previously earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a concentration in Mental Health from Southern New Hampshire University. As a U.S. Army veteran, José brings extensive experience in leadership, mentorship, and professional development. He has worked with a wide range of student populations, including first-generation students, veterans, and international students, supporting them in career exploration, job searches, and long-term professional growth.
José is passionate about empowering students through career readiness, networking, and skill development, with a strong commitment to fostering inclusive and supportive learning environments. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and dogs, exploring the outdoors, and advocating for student success.
